Well, a man wearing womens clothes or a woman wearing mens clothes is all crossdressing, however the stigma of crossdressing applies namely to men. It's become a socially acceptable thing for women to basically wear whatever they want, so long as they're still portraying themselves as women. However, if a man simply chooses one day to wear womens clothing for whatever reason, he is suddenly stigmatized by soceity for not being manly, has psychological issues, is gay, etc. He could simply want to do it because he feels sexy and confident in it, like a woman would.
Our clothing has a lot to do with stigmatizing the sexes and male privilege. It's a social construct that in all reality degrades and hurts both sexes, not just women. Women should be able to wear whatever they want, whether that be her husband's jeans and t shirt or that hot little black dress and stilettos. The same standard should apply to men. If a man wants to do some work around the house in his nasty work clothes and then wants to get all dressed up in his favorite dress later that night, then he should be able to without people second guessing his "manhood" or sexual orientation. A few hundred years ago in Europe, it was very common for at least the aristocratic men to dress very porvactively and even more flashy then what women do now.
I think it could be an underlying fear in some men that they might find a man in womens clothing attractive because the same clothing on women makes women look attractive.
